The countdown is nearing the 40-day mark. Are you ready for ICD-10?
To help physicians and other providers get quickly up to speed, CMS has launched the ICD-10 Clinical Concepts Series for different specialties, with each guide compiling key information from the Road to ICD-10 online tool in a PDF format.
Each guide includes common ICD-10 codes and corresponding ICD-9 codes, clinical documentation tips, sample outpatient scenarios to illustrate specific clinical documentation considerations, and links to interactive cases studies, in-depth webinars, and other features. There is also a link for you to build your action plan for ICD-10 by inputting information about your specialty, practice size, technology, payers and more.
The links to the very helpful and — the best part — free clinical concept guides are as follows:
Another great opportunity to continue your ICD-10 prep is the CEU credit webinar scheduled for next Tuesday, Aug. 25 on ICD-10 and Clinical Documentation Improvement.
The webinar will cover the nuances of coding and help you to identify potential clinical documentation gaps and formulate strategies for improvement now.
Our presenter is Melanie Endicott, who writes much of the material for AHIMA’s online coding education platforms and is the technical adviser for the Association on ICD-10-CM/PCS. She also serves as faculty for the AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS Academies and CDIP Exam Preps.
This webinar has been approved for 1.0 CEU credit through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), the Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM), and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). It may also qualify for Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) credit through MGMA. (Granting prior approval from AAPC, PAHCOM and AHIMA does not constitute endorsement of the program content or its program sponsor. Check directly with MGMA to verify CEU credit for this webinar).
